How to use the butterfat calculator
Place your current quota owned or ongoing in the Current Quota Litres and Butterfat boxes at the top of the calculator. (The boxes will take figures to six decimal places)
Place the litreage and butterfat of the quota you are intending to acquire in the litres Acquired/butterfat Acquired boxes above. As soon as you click out of the final box the calculator will work our your new butterfat base and litreage. If you have inserted your permanent litreage and butterfat base (i.e. the butterfat and litreage of the quota you own) in the boxes at the top the new boxes at the bottom will show your permanent litreage and base. If you enter details of your ongoing litreage and base (ie the sum of all your quota whether leased or owned). The figure at the bottom will be your ongoing base.
You can now look at the "Base for Levy Purposes" boxes which show the effect the rounding up or down will have on your new butterfat base when the levy is calculated. The "Litres Gained/Lost" box to the right shows the equivalent litres you will gain or lose, when the levy is calculated, due to the change in butterfat.
If you are considering more than one "deal" place each lot of quota in the separate transaction rows up to a maximum of 8 transactions.
When you have finished using the calculator or wish to calculate a new transaction click on the "clear values button" to start again.
